HLA Matching Search Status 寻找配型进展
(9/12/2006)
NW Memorial Hospital has requested two additional high-resolution typing tests within U.S. from those who had 6/6 matches.
They also requested two high-resolution typing tests from Japan who had 6/6 matches.
Additionally, one high-resolution typing test request was sent to Tzu Chi Taiwan Marrow Donor Registry.

Another piece of good news to share. There are 30 6/6 matches found from Japanese Marrow registry.
Second round typing testing will be requested soon to identify a 10/10 donor.

This is indeed a great news. One of the HLA tests we sponsored showed 6/6 matching. Lan and her family were so hopeful and grateful. Second high resolution test from the donor will be scheduled very soon. Let's have our fingers crossed.

There is not much progress in the donor searching since the transplant coordinator, who is in charge of the search, is out of office for a week.
The on-line search from 北京大学阳光骨髓库 found no 6/6 matches. There are several 5/6 matches, which are not sufficient.

Beside the search from NMDP the nurse preformed, Lan’s supporters helped to initiate searches from following registries recently.
Please note that Lan needs 10 out of 10 markers (10/10) matched donor. Normally, to get 10 HLA markers, a second time blood test would be required since most of the registries do not maintain the high-resolution data. That is partially why the process to find the matching donors is slow and complicated.
In Lan’s case, early search from NMDP identified 20 candidates with 6/6 match. Second round search among the first 5 candidates all failed to secure a donor, two donors with 7/10 match and one donor with 8/10 match. Second round search for the next 5 candidates is undergoing.
